FAIR CHASE

Practicing ‘fair chase’ means practicing self-restraint and not taking unfair advantage of game animals. It’s a concept that balances hunter skill level and equipment with the abilities of the game animal to escape. Fair chase is defined by law, by regional preferences and by personal choice (based on hunting ability).

Ever been told that you should “never shoot a sitting duck”? This expression reflects the spirit of fair chase in that good hunters should always challenge themselves to further develop their skills. So, like the old boys say—DON’T shoot at sitting ducks.
